Today is Ghatastapana the beginning nine day celebrations Each indian festival has a strong scientific and humane angle Navratri the festival of goddess DURGA signifies Divinity and Dynamism let us kill evil within us and transform into better individuals The traditional celebrations begin by placing a Ghata comprising a portion of soil from the farm is placed on dried leaves and sown with grain an earthern or metal pot  the metal pot Brahma Vishnu Shiva it also symbolises the ocean and convergence of rivers a puja of the ghata is offered with puran and kheer A garland of marigold flowers is offered
